The Vatican's Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith on July 2 issued a decree excommunicating the six bishops of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX). The decree also warns clergy and faithful not to adhere to the Fraternity's schism, stating that doing so incurs automatic excommunication. An accompanying explanatory note says that all attempts since Pope Paul VI to reconcile the movement founded by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre with the Catholic Church have failed. The recent episcopal consecrations against the will of Pope Leo XIV, it says, "constituted the offense of schism, with the resulting canonical consequences for the sacred ministers and lay faithful involved." "The sacred ministers belonging to the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X are in schism and must therefore be considered schismatics." Lay faithful who formally adhere to the Fraternity are likewise to be considered schismatics and excommunicated. The FSSPX clergy administer "the sacraments illicitly": "The …More
On June 30, Leo XIV appointed Bishop Marco Mellino as Secretary of the Dicastery for Legislative Texts. Until now, Mellino was the deputy secretary of the same Dicastery. He was one of the principal canon-law officials of Francis' Curial reform. Born in 1966 in Canale (Piedmont), Mellino was ordained a priest in 1991 and earned his licentiate (1999) and doctorate (2000) in canon law at the Pontifical Lateran University. Defending Amoris Laetitia In January 2018, Mellino defended the controversial Chapter VIII of Amoris laetitia about giving Communion to adulterers in an article entitled 'La comunione ad alcuni fedeli in situazione irregolare' (Communion for some members of the faithful in an irregular situation). Mellino belongs to the same canon-law milieu as Cardinal Francesco Coccopalmerio, the principal Vatican defender of Amoris laetitia. In October 2018, Francis appointed Mellino as Bishop and Secretary of the Council of Cardinals (the "C9"). Creating a "Synodal Church" Monsignor …More
1. July 2026 1. July 2026 07/01/2026 Entire blog as a free PDF eBook. I wrote about the fact that the pharmaceutical industry is a mafia more than five years ago. Now, using yesterday’s article on thedigger.co as an example—Inclisiran: How the NHS Became a Tool of Industrial Policy—you can follow, step by step, the entire process of approving an untested “drug” chosen by the mafia to unhealthily lower cholesterol levels necessary for life. The quotation marks around the word “drug” will become unnecessary if we agree with my definition of this substance: Drug – a chemical substance administered to alleviate symptoms or adjust laboratory test results to standards manipulated by the pharmaceutical industry, without triggering self-healing processes, and causing additional diseases. The issue of money in medicine is important, but it’s complex and difficult to grasp intuitively. To unpack this problem, I’ll show you the pathway of onedrug, from its discovery all the way through to its …
S.D. Wright Jul 1, 2026 The tradition of the Church is clear: Someone in Leo XIV's position cannot excommunicate the SSPX. After the Society of Saint Pius X’s episcopal consecrations on July 1, the Vatican is expected to issue a declaration of excommunication soon. These expectations were strengthened the day before, after Leo XIV’s June 29 letter to Father Davide Pagliarani, the SSPX’s superior general. The letter urged Pagliarani not to proceed with what it described as a “schismatic act” and stated that “to tear the seamless garment of Christ is a sin of extreme gravity.” Today’s episcopal consecrations may result in a different situation: In April, SSPX Bishop Bernard Fellay stated that Vatican sources had revealed the intention was to excommunicate the entire SSPX (i.e., all priests and official members), and even the lay faithful attending their chapels. However, it is impossible that the excommunications would be valid or binding. This article will explain how Catholic …More

Saint Swithun - July 2 Also known as Swithin Svithin Memorial 2 July 15 July (translation of relics) Profile Raised in an abbey. Priest. Chaplain to Egbert, King of the West Saxons. Tutor to prince Ethelwolf. Bishop of Winchester, England. Miracles associated with his relics. His shrine was destroyed during the Reformation. Almost 60 ancient British churches were named for him. His patronage of the weather arose when monks tried to translate his body from an outdoor grave to a golden shrine in the Cathedral in 871. Swithun apparently did not approve as it started raining for 40 days. The weather on the festival of his translation indicates, according to an old rhyme, the weather for the next forty days: Saint Swithun’s day, if thou dost rain, For forty days it will remain; Saint Swithun’s day, if thou be fair, For forty days ’twill rain nae mair. That sufficient evidence had been produced in court to make a case against one of the city's most prominent business men was the statement of Recorder Broyles Wednesday afternoon at the trial of the persons involved in the latest vice scandal. Lena Barnhardt, alleged white sliver [sic] and procuress, was bound over to the higher court under a bond of $500. Hattie Smith, who claimed in court to be a white slave victim of the Barnhardt woman, was placed under $100 bond for the higher court. Synodality ceases to be presented solely as a pastoral process and becomes a principle regulated by law in the governance of the Pope’s diocese. That is one of the most significant aspects of the Motu Proprio Confirma Fratres Tuos, with which Leo XIV replaces the apostolic constitution In Ecclesiarum communione, promulgated by Francis in 2023, and establishes a new organizational framework for the Vicariate of Rome. Although the document maintains the broad pastoral orientations promoted by his predecessor, it introduces a much more precise regulation of the governance structure, delimits competencies, and turns synodality into an institutional principle integrated into the ordinary functioning of the Vicariate. The decision is of particular importance because it is not a partial modification, but the complete repeal of an apostolic constitution promulgated only three years ago. Leo XIV himself explains that the experience accumulated since the 2023 reform came into force advised …

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 9,1-8. After entering a boat, Jesus made the crossing, and came into his own town. And there people brought to him a paralytic lying on a stretcher. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Courage, child, your sins are forgiven." At that, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man is blaspheming." Jesus knew what they were thinking, and said, "Why do you harbor evil thoughts? Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise and walk'? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins" --he then said to the paralytic, "Rise, pick up your stretcher, and go home." He rose and went home. When the crowds saw this they were struck with awe and glorified God who had given such authority to human beings. shareyourcatholicfaith
Wednesday, 9th July 1913 New Evidence in Phagan Case Found Wednesday, July 9, 1913 iGrl [sic] Called to Tell of Negro She Saw in Pencil Factory—Lee Stays in Jail. A sensation in the Phagan murder mystery developed Wednesday afternoon when Solicitor Dorsey summoned Miss Mattie Smith under a special subpena to question her in regard to a negro she saw in the National Pencil Factory the morning of the Saturday that Mary Phagan was murdered. Miss Smith told a Georgian reporter that she saw a negro there that morning and believed it was between 9 and 10 o'clock. She thought she might be asked to identify Conley. If she identifies the negro, it will disprove Conley's statement that he did not go to the factory until after he had met Frank Saturday. Judge W. D. Ellis Wednesday morning postponed indefinitely the hearing on the application for a writ of habeas corpus to liberate Newt Lee, material witness in the Phagan murder mystery. The action came as a result of an agreement reached between …More
