When I was Muslim, I used to ask Christians: “If Jesus was really God, why did He eat, sleep, and bleed like us?” And honestly, I used to ask it with pride like it was some unbeatable argument. But later I realized something: That question was not exposing Christianity. It was exposing my misunderstanding of what kind of God Jesus claimed to be. Because the real question is not: “Why would God become weak?” The real question is: “What kind of God would willingly step into human suffering at all?” Islam taught me about a God who was distant and untouchable. But Christianity introduced me to a God who stepped into hunger, exhaustion, grief, pain, betrayal, blood, and suffering with us. And suddenly His humanity stopped feeling like weakness to me. It became proof of love. If Jesus ate, it means He came close enough to experience hunger beside us. If He slept, it means He embraced the exhaustion we carry. If He bled, it means He did not stand above suffering watching us from a distance. …Plus
The Latin for "He Himself" is "ipse" and it has amazed me how frequently it appears in the scriptures. Like Psalm 129, "ipse" He Himself redeemed Israel. First Peter 2:24 "ipse" bore our sins in his own body upon the tree. And, in the beautiful Easter Preface in the Latin Missal, Ipse enim verus est Agnus qui abstulit peccata mundi.
Understand this. Europe is not losing its soul because Islam is strong. Europe is losing its soul because Christians have become embarrassed by their own faith. The real problem is that we have turned Christianity into a museum. Something you visit at Christmas and funerals. Something you “respect historically” without actually believing it. Something you are expected to apologize for - or be shamed for - if you take it seriously. The result? A cultural vacuum. And nature - and history - hate a vacuum. Islam is not primarily strong theologically. Islam is strong because it is a complete system - law, politics, social order and religion in one. There is no separation. Sharia does not just regulate the relationship with God. It regulates contracts, marriage, punishment, governance, war and peace. Islam is a civilization with its own rules for everything. It is not a private faith. It is a political project. And Muslims own it. They do not apologize for it. They defend it. They live it …Plus
When I first read many of the conditional Catholic prophecies for our time on Russia eventually attacking Europe, I used to think this would be for a time when Russia was an actual anti-Christian foe and Europe was the innocent victim. I didn't realize that this could be a result an anti-Christian European leaders hijacking Christian Europe while continually provoking Russia.
