Leo XIV announced that Honggang Liu, 55, was consecrated a Bishop for the Chinese Diocese of Datong on August 31. ChinaCatholic.cn admitted today that Liu was elected bishop-designate of Datong on 28 April 2026. Vatican.va wrote today that Leo XIV did not formally appoint him until 10 August. Thus, Liu was selected unilaterally through the Chinese process more than three months before the papal appointment. Career Cleric of State Church Liu has been since his seminary time a career cleric of the state-controlled apparatus “Patriotic association”. He became the state’s diocesan administrator of Datong in March 2005. He effectively administered the same diocese for two decades before becoming its bishop today. The FSSPX’s rosary prayer in Mariazell has existed for half a century. On September 8, 1975, Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre led approximately 600 faithful to the Austrian shrine.
Bishop Wilhelm Krautwaschl of Graz-Seckau, Austria, has prohibited the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX) from holding its annual public Rosary prayer on October 4 inside the Basilica of Mariazell. It is one of the most important Marian shrines in Austria. The annual ceremony in the basilica included Rosary, Litany of Loreto, Marian hymns and a blessing - but no sacraments. Fsspx.at announced the decision on August 27, adding that a pilgrimage will take place with a modified program. The FSSPX’s rosary prayer in Mariazell has existed for half a century. On August 27, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria called on the government and security agencies to step up efforts to combat killings and kidnappings following recent attacks in Benue and Niger states. In a statement titled “Stop the Slaughter in Borgu and Ukum, Stop the Killings in Nigeria,” the bishops said the country was experiencing an “unabated trail of blood and terror” that had reached an “intolerable crest.” The statement was signed by CBCN President Archbishop Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso of Kaduna. The bishops cited the recent killing of 47 people in Ukum, Benue State, where another 17 people were critically wounded. They also condemned the abduction of more than 60 Muslim worshippers in Borgu, Niger State. They called for intelligence-led security operations. The aim is disrupting armed groups before they can carry out attacks. They also demanded the prosecution of the perpetrators and their sponsors, saying that “impunity fuels repetition.” Furthermore, the bishops …بیشتر
On August 28, the U.S. Justice Department released a 231-page report on the FBI’s 2023 Richmond Catholic memo, including evidence of surveillance of traditionalist Catholic clergy. The FBI investigated two priests and conducted surveillance connected to them. One belonged to the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X (FSSPX); the other, his uncle, was associated with SSPX Resistance and had been ordained by Bishop Richard Williamson. Agents researched travel and credit-card records. FBI personnel in Boston surveilled the second priest at the airport, while Customs and Border Protection questioned him and searched his phone. Both investigations were subsequently closed after the FBI found no identified national-security threat and no alleged violation of federal law. Among the exhibits in the DOJ report is an FBI PowerPoint titled “Traditionalist Catholicism Overview” - essentially a rudimentary guide to the various traditionalist Catholic groups and sects. Remarkably, the presentation included …بیشتر
A report from the U.S. Department of Justice, published on August 26, 2026, provides detailed insight into a case that began in 2023 and delivers a very harsh judgment on the FBI's actions
If you read the slides on "Radical Traditional Catholicism" you will see that for the FBI any Catholic who adheres to and professes all the Magisterial teaching, Encyclicals and Apostolic letters on Church and State, family and morality of previous Popes before Vatican II (and, indeed, the Ten Commandments) should be profiled as a terrorist. The FBI makes a complete caricature of what those teachings are and represent, claiming such nonsense as Traditional Catholics believe in a "totalitarian Catholic confessional State". They even portray the fundamental principle of “Error has no rights” as being problematic and indicative of "radical Traditionalism". Tell that to God, Who holds the same principles. So Hell is a terroristic construct?
Monsignor Stephen Rossetti, removed in June as an exorcist by Washington Cardinal Robert McElroy, is continuing his deliverance ministry. In an August 3 email to subscribers, Monsignor Rossetti said he remains a priest in good standing in his home Diocese of Syracuse, New York, and will continue his work through the St. Michael Center, which operates within the territory of the Washington archdiocese. On June 3, Cardinal McElroy removed Rossetti as an archdiocesan exorcist and ended all affiliation between the Archdiocese of Washington and Rossetti's St. Michael Center. Monsignor Rossetti argues that he retains priestly faculties in several dioceses and exorcist faculties in two others. He also says his own bishop has encouraged him to continue the ministry. The June controversy followed Rossetti's eccentric claim that UFOs "are, in fact, demons." Cardinal McElroy - who had removed him for this claim - later said the decision was not about UFOs but reflected his view that the role of an …بیشتر
Read this garbage: Msgr Rossetti says " sexual abuse of minors by mothers could more easily be disguised as ordinary acts of cleaning, grooming or dressing children." If it is true that he said this, such a thought could only come from a rotten, corrupt mind. Our mothers -our blessed, beloved mothers- could never do such a thing! Thank you, Mom, for taking care of me since I was a baby!

– Folha de S. Paulo, August 12, 1978 – by Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira Carter (left) and Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev signing the SALT II treaty in Vienna (June 18, 1979) Today, I continue to present significant symptoms of discontent in the US caused by President Carter’s leftist policies, as well as facts indicating the influence that conservative centrism has achieved in that country. Expressions of discontent in the US and abroad with Carter’s conciliatory policy toward Communist Russia are not new. Back in April of this year, the well-known British newspaper, The Daily Express, published a remarkably lucid commentary on the subject that goes straight to the heart of the president’s diplomatic errors. The Daily Express (April 21, 1978) wrote: “The great flaw in American policy is the assumption that by making concessions and seeking to please, it will win friends and allies.” The newspaper offers many examples of this and contrasts Carter’s approach with Russia’s, which “concedes nothing …بیشتر
Slovak pro-LGBT Catholic priest Adam Štefanec, 29, of the Diocese of Žilina said in an August 12 video that he does not like the word “God.” Rev. Štefanec believes that the term had accumulated so many associations that it no longer speaks to people today. “I try to find words that are universal,” he said, naming “humanity” as a universal value. Asked what Christ wants from people, Rev. Štefanec said the answer is “different for everyone,” different in every age, and “constantly changing.” Previously, Rev. Štefanec has supported homosex civil partnerships and said that homosexuality is not a sin.

The University of Notre Dame's McGrath Institute for Church Life has published on July 17 a report containing twelve proposals for assessing candidates for the priesthood. Entitled, "Do You Know Them to Be Worthy?", the file was written by Father Thomas V. Berg and psychologist Timothy G. Lock. The report draws on research commissioned from the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) and a consultation held at Notre Dame in September 2025. The proposals concern psychological assessment, candidates with particular psychological or developmental conditions, and formation for chastity and celibacy. It addresses candidates with conditions including ADHD, obsessive-compulsive disorder and autism spectrum disorder. On homosexual attraction, the Notre Dame authors note that a pause in formation may "more often than not" lead to a decision not to advance a candidate toward ordination. The authors think the pause is needed to assess four things: - how the man understands his identity; …بیشتر
A fierce storm interrupts the ceremony of the controversial episcopal ordinations of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (Lefebvrians), considered by the Vatican to be a schismatic act.
It rained but nothing got destroyed, like, for example the halo and the keys to Heaven by the St Peter statue in Argentina, right with Francis birthday and the newly proclamation by him on gay couples blessings.
The Russian Orthodox Church has revoked its June decision assigning its former foreign affairs chief to two Russian Orthodox parishes in southern Brazil. Instead, Patriarch Kirill has assigned Hilarion, 60, to the Exaltation of the Cross Monastery near Moscow. The latest reassignment comes after a series of controversies involving the once-powerful church diplomat. In May, Czech police detained Hilarion in Karlovy Vary after searching his car and finding four containers containing a white powder. Czech authorities later identified the substance as cocaine. Hilarion was released without charges after two days, while the investigation remains ongoing. He denies any involvement and says he was the victim of a provocation. Hilarion had already been removed as Metropolitan of Budapest and Hungary in 2024 after a former male assistant accused him of homosexual misconduct and financial impropriety. The allegations were accompanied by claims that Hilarion lived a lavish lifestyle and accumulated …بیشتر
