Empty Words: Vatican Denies Indult for Ubiquitous Lay Preaching

The Vatican has rejected – on paper only – a request from the German Bishops' Conference to permit lay people to preach during the Eucharist by means of an "indult." The June 17 letter, written by Cardinal Arthur Roche, Prefect of the Dicastery for Divine Worship, was published on Dbk.de.
The German bishops' proposal sought permission to allow lay employees, in the usual exceptional circumstances, to deliver a homiletic reflection following the Gospel during the Eucharist.
In his reply, Cardinal Roche claims with canon law that the homily is an integral part of the liturgy [especially only since Pope Pius X] and is reserved to a priest or deacon. He stresses that the reservation of the homily to clergy is not merely a disciplinary norm and does not depend on theological competence or communication skills.
Cardinal Roche disputes the claim that current pastoral circumstances require an exception. Where a priest is present to celebrate the Eucharist, he is also present to preach. Where …Suli

Toward the Spirit: Why Faithful Catholics Need to Recover the Patristic and Scholastic Vision of Marriage
Faithful Catholics today find themselves in an unusual position.
On one side stands a secular culture that has largely abandoned Christian morality altogether. Marriage has been redefined, chastity ridiculed, fertility treated as a burden, and self-denial dismissed as unhealthy. Against these errors, faithful Catholics rightly defend the Church's teaching.
Yet another danger confronts us—one far more subtle.
It is possible to defend Catholic morality while gradually losing sight of the theological vision that once animated it.
We may continue to affirm the Church's teachings while forgetting the spiritual principles that gave those teachings their shape. We may preserve the conclusions while neglecting the foundations.
This danger is especially evident in the realm of marriage.
The Catholic Church continues to teach the sanctity of marriage, the evil of contraception, the goodness …Suli

The Bergoglio Method: Ambiguity, Power and Control

Damian Thompson interprets on 0The Spectator (June 23) the Francis' pontificate through the theory of charismatic authority. Francis emerges as a Peronist-style ruler who cultivated ambiguity, governed through unpredictability, weakened institutions, protected loyal allies, and increasingly centralised power around himself. Main quotes.
- “The theology of the Bergoglio pontificate has a curiously schizophrenic quality.”
- “… previously magisterial Catholic teaching on difficult topics such as divorce and homosexuality was somehow negotiable”.
- “…intentional imprecision of language, a tendency to caricature critics rather than engage with their arguments,…”
- “…his willingness to contradict himself. One moment he was inviting the LGBT lobby to the Vatican; the next, he was using Roman slang to mock homosexuals.”
- “He compared abortionists to paid assassins; he also allowed pro-abortion Catholic politicians to receive Holy Communion and appointed ‘pro-choice’ academics to …Suli

Sinking Titanic Back at the Vatican: "We are human beings, not techno-robots," Leo XIV told the children of the Vatican summer camp today, encouraging them to limit screen time, pray, cultivate real friendships, and avoid becoming dependent on technology. The scene featured the Pope addressing hundreds of children beneath a giant inflatable sinking Titanic. The plastic 'bouncy castle' in the shape of the Titanic has been in use for several years.

Fake-Monks Confronted Homosexual March in Greece: Two men wearing clerical-style robes confronted the Thessaloniki homosexual march, shouting “Repent!” at participants. One of the men lay down in front of a truck while holding a cross and an icon. Police detained both men. Authorities later stated that neither individual was affiliated with the Greek-Orthodox community. During identification, they found that the man who had lain in front of the float had an outstanding conviction related to drug offenses and property damage.

A man - with drug problems pretending to be a monk - interrupted the "Pride" parade in Thessaloniki by lying down in the middle of the road, in front of a truck.

What the Consistory Reveals About Leo XIV

Yesterday, the Vatican published the program for the Consistory of June 26–27, thus providing a picture of the themes, personalities, and processes that Leo XIV wants for the Church. The scheduling information had already been leaked on June 17.
Francis' Personnel Remains
The Vatican has entrusted the four principal sessions to Cardinals Grzegorz Ryś (Poland), Víctor Manuel Fernández (Curia), Stephen Brislin (South Africa), and Mario Grech (Curia).
All four are prominent figures associated with Francis' "project".
Cardinals Fernández and Grech are homosexual activists.
Francis' Synodal Procedures Remain
MessaInLatino immediately noted that the structure of the meeting is unmistakably similar to the synods of Francis: small groups, listening sessions, synthesis reports, and strictly timed interventions.
Two of the four sessions are organized around Leo XIV's encyclical Magnifica humanitas. This means discussions about peace, reconciliation, social fragmentation, technology, and power. …Suli

So I thought I would let you hear what I see and know be told by Former Austria's Former Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl confirm what I say is true. She moved to Russia to Saint Petersburg and attends important speeches and dinners and celebrations with President Putin. So she knows him very well. @Jeffrey Ade More proof? Or just one more thing to demand and ignore? I invite you once again to hear with your own ears who President Putin truly is. If you refuse. Don't demand proof again.
I am leaving three videos. First is Mrs Kneissl in an interview with of all people the BBC.

Leo XIV: "Church’s Mission to Uphold Human Dignity and Foster Fraternity"

Today, Pope Leo XIV visited the 'UN World Food Programme' headquarters in Rome. He endorsed a stronger international order and praised the work of the 'United Nations', including even within Catholic organizations. Key statements.
- "Your institution’s commitment resonates profoundly with the Catholic Church’s mission to uphold human dignity and to foster fraternity."
- "The Catholic Church is oftentimes a partner in collaboration with the programmes that you oversee and that you work in."
- "A renewed commitment to multilateral cooperation is essential."
- "In an increasingly fragmented and multipolar world, no single State can address global challenges alone."
- "Lasting peace and integral, sustainable human development are possible only through the participation of all, fostered by genuine international dialogue and cooperation oriented toward the common good."
- "Such an approach requires a firm political will capable of transcending short-term perspectives and investing in global …Suli

One message for Muslims, another for Catholics: While Pope Leo XIV described the Great Mosque of Algiers in April as "a divine, sacred space" where "God is present", Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad, Prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue, told AdVaticanum.com on June 22 that "Catholics should understand papal gestures in non-Christian spaces as symbolic acts of encounter and dialogue" and "not as approval of all religious beliefs equally."

After Leo XIV told moslems that mosques are "sacred space", Cardinal Koovad says that "Catholics should understand papal gestures in non-Christian spaces (Mosques) as symbolic acts of encounter and dialogue, not as a denial of the uniqueness of Christ or as approval of all religious beliefs equally."

Cardinal Koovakad on dialogue with Patriarch Kirill and Pope Leo’s visit to a mosque | Advaticanum

Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad is the Prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue, the Vatican department responsible for promoting understanding, cooperation and engagement between the Catholic Church and followers of other religious traditions.
After joining the Holy See’s diplomatic service in 2006, following studies at the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy, he held posts in Algeria, South Korea, Iran, Costa Rica and Venezuela. His experience later led to his being entrusted with the organisation of papal trips, including high-risk journeys such as Pope Francis’s 2021 visit to Iraq, earning him the reputation of being the Francis pontificate’s “travel agent” as he arranged the complex itinerary of one of the most travelled popes in history.
Created a cardinal in 2024 and appointed Prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue in 2025, his career has marked a series of firsts. He is the first member of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church to head a curial department. He …

Leo XIV Sings World Youth Day Anthem with Children: Yesterday, Leo XIV joined children attending the Vatican’s summer program Estate Ragazzi in singing Jesus Christ, You Are My Life in the Paul VI Hall. Sound on.

Papa Leone XIV ha vissuto un momento musicale speciale con i bambini di Estate Ragazzi in Vaticano, unendosi a loro nel canto di Jesus Christ, You Are My Life nell’Aula Paolo VI.

We Would Rather Not Ask

Running Gloria.tv is not an easy task. Neither is reading it, contributing to it, discussing on it, accepting other users, or donating to keep it alive.
Yet together we have built the only Catholic social media platform. It serves the Faith. It serves its users. And increasingly, it serves freedom.
Gloria.tv is financed entirely by donations. Almost all of them are small; many are very small. They are given for God's sake. There are no tax deductions. There are no foundations. There are no wealthy sponsors with agendas.
There is only the support of ordinary people, many of them retired, who believe that Gloria.tv should exist.
Every summer brings the same challenge. Donations decline sharply, while the costs of operating Gloria.tv remain the same. That is why your donation is greatly appreciated - or rather, needed.
If you can help, please donate.
