Bishop Schneider: Document Against Co-Redemptrix Will One Day Be Cancelled

Synodality is a “very cunning code word to undermine Catholic doctrine”, Bishop Athanasius Schneider told AdVaticanum on September 10.
He believes the vagueness of the word is deliberate, a means of gradually adapting Catholic doctrine, morality and ecclesial structures to Protestantism and contemporary attitudes toward sexuality.
Monsignor Schneider calls synodality the height of the modernist movement, leading toward relativism. He adds that this openness has one notable exception: the traditional Latin Mass.
“This document will be cancelled”
Responding to the document Mater Populi Fidelis against the Marian titles Co-Redemptrix and Mediatrix of All Graces, Bishop Schneider argues that the Church cannot cancel language found in missals and used by popes, saints and Doctors of the Church.
He believes the document, not the titles, will eventually disappear: “I think, in the future, this document will be cancelled.”

A Christian of unknown denomination has become the patron of a new Catholic parish in Texas. Bishop Michael Olson of Fort Worth has announced the creation of a parish in Arlington named after Matthew Ayariga, a Ghanaian killed by ISIS in Libya in 2015. Ayariga was abducted alongside 20 Egyptian Coptic Christians. On February 15, 2015, ISIS executed all 21 men on a Libyan beach. According to accounts of the event, when Ayariga was asked about his faith, he replied, “Their God is my God.” The Coptic Orthodox group canonized all 21 victims shortly after their deaths. In 2023, Francis announced that the 21 martyrs would also be added to the Roman Martyrology.

A 900-Year-Old French Abbey Is Up for Sale for Just €2 Million

An abbey with almost 900 years of history is up for sale in France for around two million euros.
Notre-Dame de Langonnet in Brittany was founded in 1136. The estate includes around 5,380 square meters of buildings, set within nearly 58 hectares of woodland, meadows and agricultural land.
For centuries, Cistercian monks prayed here and shaped the area around the monastery.
After the horrors of the French Revolution, the Spiritans - the congregation whose later superior general was Monsignor Marcel Lefebvre - made Langonnet their home in the 19th century.
They remained for nearly 170 years. Generations of missionaries passed through the abbey before leaving for Africa and other parts of the world. Now that chapter is coming to an end. The last Spiritans are leaving, including elderly members of the order who had spent their retirement at Langonnet.
The property has reportedly been looking for a buyer for around two years, while attempts to find a future that would preserve its religious …थप

Scramble begins at the Dicastery for Communication

Chairs are beginning to wobble inside the Dicastery for Communication. And while Massimiliano Menichetti continues with the far from straightforward task of pretending that he intends to turn everything upside down while ensuring that absolutely nothing changes, unease is growing at Palazzo Pio over the prospect that the arrival of the new Prefect may cause more than a few upset stomachs. “She’s already poking her nose into the money,” some of Andrea Tornielli’s loyalists, who shuttle back and forth between the fourth and second floors of Palazzo Pio, have remarked in recent weeks. The tone, naturally, was that of people who find it almost improper that a newly appointed Prefect might actually want to understand how the Dicastery’s resources are being spent. Maria Montserrat Alvarado, however, already appears to have identified one of the places where the problem lies. Over the years, several people brought in under Andrea Tornielli’s wing gradually made themselves comfortable, to the …

Westminster Archbishop: Pastoral Need for Roman Rite, Pastoral Silence for “Catholic” Prime Minister

Leo XIV-appointed Archbishop Richard Moth of Westminster, England, approaches 'Traditionis Custodes' from what he describes as a pastoral perspective, “Where there is pastoral need, then I would make the argument for it,” he told NcRegister.com on September 10.
In his previous Diocese of Arundel and Brighton, he said he “responded to that pastoral need.”
Archbishop Moth believes that we need a greater sense of the transcendent in the liturgy, but believes this is “perfectly possible” using the Novus Ordo.
Asked about an expected meeting with Catholic Prime Minister Andy Burnham, who is supports abortion and homosexual "marriage", Archbishop Moth replied evasively: “A conversation I would have with somebody about their conscience is between me and that individual,” he said. “If particular issues are raised, I would speak about them and address them, yes.”
Moth also calls it “very positive” that Burnham has raised the need to improve palliative care in the context of the assisted-suicide …थप

RATIONAL VERSION OF THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH
III. THE CHURCH IS CATHOLIC
The Church and non-Christians

845
To reunite all his children, scattered and led astray by sin, the Father willed to call the whole of humanity together into his Son's Church. The Church is the place where humanity must rediscover its unity and salvation. The Church is "the world reconciled." She is that bark which "in the full sail of the Lord's cross, by the breath of the Holy Spirit, navigates safely in this world." According to another image dear to the Church Fathers, she is prefigured by Noah's ark, which alone saves from the flood.334

Leo XIV Appoints Bishop Who Ordered Homosexual Inclusion in Lay Ministries

Today, Pope Leo XIV appointed Bishop Crispin Barrete Varquez, 65, as the new bishop of Tagbilaran in the Philippines. He has been bishop of Borongan since 2007, for nearly two decades.
His appointment to Tagbilaran marks a return to his home diocese. He spent much of his priestly ministry there before becoming a bishop.
Varquez Replaces a Bishop-Elect Who Withdrew
Tagbilaran diocese has been without a bishop since September 2025, when Archbishop Alberto Uy was promoted to Cebu.
In March 2026, Leo XIV named Rev. Gerardo Saco as his successor. He withdrew just three weeks before his episcopal consecration in May, citing his “human limitations and inadequacies.”
Monsignor Varquez was supposed to be one of Saco's two co-consecrators.
“Inclusive Lay Ministries”
In October 2025, Bishop Varquez mandated all parishes in his diocese to include persons with disabilities and people of “different sexual orientations” in inclusive lay ministries.
Monsignor Varquez said their "gifts" should be “…थप

As He Backs ICE Crackdown, Nebraska Governor Employs Undocumented Workers

The latest Vatican Synod proposals seek to expand the participation of the "People of God“ in the selection of bishops. To understand why this matters, we must look beyond the proposal itself.
For the architects of the post-conciliar Church, the expression “People of God” became the foundation for a new way of understanding the relationship between the hierarchy and the faithful. The emphasis is no longer placed primarily upon a divinely established hierarchy that teaches and governs the Church, but upon a community in which all the baptized are increasingly presented as sharing responsibility for determining the Church’s path.
This new vision naturally produces synodality.
And synodality means that the Church must continually listen, consult, dialogue, discern, and “walk together.” The voice of the clergy is joined to the voice of the laity, while the distinction between those who possess sacred authority and those who are subject to it becomes increasingly blurred.
The latest proposals …थप

The Message of Puebla: Notes and Comments – IV

– Folha de S. Paulo, April 26, 1979 –
by Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira
The “most obvious weaknesses of present-day civilization.”
What, then, is the conception of man — and of his “conveniences” — proposed by the new current John Paul II alludes to in his address to the Latin American bishops at the opening of the Puebla Conference?
The Link Between Atheism and Collectivism
Considering the question in general terms, does the new humanism logically lead to a right-wing, centrist, or left-wing position?
The message does not say so. In the section on “the truth about man,” it identifies leftism in its various shades as the content of the new humanism, without specifying whether this link stems from the very premises of the system of errors it condemns or from one of those fortuitous coincidences that are not uncommon in history.
In my view, this is not a coincidence but a genuine, logical sequence. Those who do not believe in God but only in humanity are led to see the full realization of this …थप

Who Will Be Offered the First Red Hats of Leo XIV’s Pontificate?

ANALYSIS: The first American Pope has yet to appoint his inaugural batch of cardinals. So far, Leo XIV’s government has been characterized by extraordinary prudence and a certain continuity with his predecessors. He has made only a few relatively minor adjustments to the curia, without touching Francis’ broad reform framework. He has also retained the idea of synodality, but without giving it the central importance it had, at least narratively, during the Francis pontificate. And he has almost always drawn on men who had been Pope Francis’ people. The time is coming, however, when Leo XIV’s pontificate will have to take definitive shape, and that will be when the Pope convenes a consistory to create new cardinals. From the choices he will make about who will receive the new red hats, we will learn a great deal about the Pope. This is generally the case with every pontificate, and there is no reason to think Leo will be any different. When Leo XIV was elected, 133 cardinal-electors entered …

Thinking Like a Saint: Fr. Timothy Gallagher on Consolation, Desolation, & God's Will
"Discernment begins when we understand our inner stirrings—recognizing what is from God and what is from the enemy." Renowned author and spiritual director Fr. Timothy Gallagher, OMV joins CatholicTV to discuss Thinking Like a Saint. Why is it so difficult to hear God's voice through the constant noise and distractions of modern life? Returning to CatholicTV after more than two decades, Father Timothy Gallagher, OMV steps into the living room on This Is the Day to unpack the timeless wisdom of Saint Ignatius of Loyola and his new book, Thinking Like a Saint. Fr. Gallagher explains that the spiritual life is naturally filled with ups and downs. Drawing from 40 years of teaching, he breaks down the essential dynamics of Spiritual Consolation (when God feels close and prayer is full of life) and Spiritual Desolation (when prayer feels dry, heavy, and difficult). Rather than leaving us stranded in these …थप

That’s a racket with a diploma printer. Bowser sent parents a 180-day reminder to show up. Jeanine Pirro is talking fines and jail. One of those is a newsletter. The other is a standard. Unions protect the adults. The children get the empty desk and a fake transcript. School choice isn’t a slogan. It’s the exit from a system that already quit. Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” 40 And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” 41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.
